The Opportunity:
The Queen’s Club is seeking an Assistant Grounds Manager who has a passion for turf management and exceptional people skills to join our leading team. This is a rare chance to become part of a prestigious and world-renowned venue with a global reputation for excellence. In this role, you will work closely with the Grounds Manager, assisting in the management and leadership of a dedicated, small team of grounds staff to maintain our high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- To assist in the day-to-day upkeep and management of excellent grounds and court facilities for the enjoyment of Members; helping support and build the reputation of The Queen’s Club as the finest racquet sports club in the world.
- Assist in the management of and the maintenance to, all outside facilities, Club grounds and indoor tennis courts including grass courts, clay courts, padel courts, all weather and indoor courts, hedges, shrubbery, car park and grounds in general.
- Assist in the preparation/running of all events and tournaments across the Club, including The Queen’s Club Tournament.
- Assist in the general training and development of staff members to include: Setting out and line marking, clay court maintenance, procedures and health and safety compliance.
- Health & Safety Lead for the Grounds Department
- Support the Head Grounds Manager in overseeing a team of groundskeepers, delegating tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring all work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Help manage the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of all groundskeeping equipment, such as mowers, strimmers, and other machinery, ensuring equipment is always in top working condition.
- Assist in managing stock levels of supplies such as fertilisers, grass seed, and line marking paint. Help track expenses and ensure that the grounds budget is maintained within guidelines.
- Work closely with suppliers and partners to maintain a positive relationship.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- NVQ level 2 or equivalent in Turf Management/Grounds Maintenance.
- Spraying Certificates PA1, PA2 and PA6.
- IOSH Certificate
- Full, clean driving licence
- Proven experience in groundskeeping, preferably with a focus on sports turf or tennis courts
- Experience in team supervision or leadership is desirable
- Flexibility to work during peak times, including weekends and evenings
