Minchinhampton Golf Club is looking for an experienced Courses Manager to manage the maintenance and development of its three distinctly different 18-hole golf courses set in two locations in the beautiful Cotswolds. Minchinhampton Golf Club is recognised as one of the premier clubs in the region and is an Open qualifying venue. It is one of the largest members’ clubs in the UK.

Permanent Contract Start Date: Flexible we are looking for an experienced and passionate Courses Manager, with an eye for detail and excellent management skills.
Salary dependent on qualifications and experience
Key Responsibities:
  • Lead, manage and develop the Greenkeeping team
  • Manage the golf courses in accordance with the Club’s maintenance policy, the courses management policy, health and safety policy and the Greenkeepers Code of Conduct
  • Carry out effective turf and course maintenance through the establishment of schedules and programmes of regular maintenance, which maximise efficiency on the courses
  • Ensure the courses are prepared for daily play including marking hazards & grounds for repair, and ensure all playing surfaces, bunkers, tee markers, range, practice facilities and golf furniture receive appropriate regular maintenance
  • Establishment and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
  • Maintain grounds and landscaping around clubhouses and Club grounds
  • To undertake surveys and record data on the golf course environments whilst promoting good environmental practices
  • Where appropriate and relevant, to supervise construction and/or renovation projects and provide estimates on resources required for any such projects
  • Maintain appropriate levels of supplies ensuring safe and effective control of all stored materials and grounds maintenance products
  • Recommendations for machinery fleet at lease renewal
  • Manage expenditure budgets and forecasts
  • Responsible for the management and implementation of all health and safety requirements in conjunction with external advisers, ensuring that staff are fully trained on these matters
  • Ensure that the purchasing of course specific suitable materials are maintained
  • Plan and manage the control of weeds, pests and disease
  • To review staff competency training forms quarterly and ensure training is given to those needed
  • Always maintain a professional and welcoming approach when dealing with Members, guests and visitors
  • Provide regular communication to members
General Duties:
  • Ensure the correct procedures are followed regarding the use of all machinery, fertilisers and chemicals
  • Report on the condition of the golf courses environment
  • Undertake Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in line with current and changing requirements of the role
  • Continuous improvement. Always looking for efficiencies
  • To promote, monitor and maintain the health, safety and welfare of all employees, Members, guests and visitors, by following all legislative guidelines for the preparation, use and disposal of chemicals, the safe use of tools, plant and equipment and promoting safe working practices in all areas of operation at each of the courses
  • Ensuring that all faults and defects relating to the condition of the courses, equipment, tools, buildings, etc, within the remit of grounds maintenance are reported to the General Manager
  • Communicate risks and hazards to the General Manager
  • Comply with company policies, rules and procedures at all times
  • Work as part of a team and actively demonstrate a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives
  • Provide support to ensure the smooth running of all Club facilities including rudimentary clubhouse operations
  • Ensure that all premises are safely secured and locked prior to leaving
Key Skills:
  • Competence with a wide range of Golf Course machinery and equipment
  • Knowledge of Turfkeeper Software
  • The ability to communicate with others within the team, colleagues and superiors
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Flexible working hours are a necessity and therefore a flexible approach is essential
  • Develop team to enhance performance, identification of team development needs
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems
  • Water management
Requirements for the role:
  • Meticulous eye for detail and exceptional planning and organisation skills
  • Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills with a confident and outgoing personality and an ability to interact with people at all levels
  • Able to lead and train the staff with a positive “can do” attitude
  • Ability to multitask and work in a busy, fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Ability to take initiative and a practical approach to problem solving
  • Positive and flexible approach to work (weekend, evening and night-time work will be required)
