Hollinwell gained international recognition in 1970 when it hosted the John Player Classic and attracted some of the top professional golfers of the time. The club has hosted many other top professional and amateur events, including:

• The European Tour’s 1982 Tournament Players Championship, sponsored by Haig Whisky, which Nick Faldo won.
• The Brabazon Trophy 6 times, more than any other English club.
• The R&A Boys Amateur Championship in 2012, won by Matthew Fitzpatrick.
• Final Qualifying for the Open Championship from 2017 to 2022.

Hollinwell recently featured on film with the R&A following our efforts to maintain and promote biodiversity. Golf is good for nature, providing natural value, and helping to conserve and protect species and landscapes.
